Ned%27s Declassified School Survival Guide

Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, commonly called Ned's Declassified for short, is an American live action sitcom on Nickelodeon that debuted in the Nickelodeon Sunday night TEENick scheduling block on September 12, 2004. The series' actual pilot episode aired on September 7, 2003 without many of the current version's main characters. The main series finale television movie aired on June 8, 2007.

The show was produced by Apollo ProScreen GmbH & Co. Filmproduktion KG in association with Jack Mackie Pictures. Its main executive producer and creator is Scott Fellows, the head writer for The Fairly OddParents, which explains why numerous Fairly OddParents cameos have been sighted throughout the series (i.e. in Ned's daydream, Cosmo & Wanda used magic to get Ned & Moze into Mr. Sweeney's classroom).

Contents

Premise

Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide follows the lives of Ned, Cookie and Moze and their adventures in James K. Polk Middle School. The show deals with handling academic subjects, as well as social problems such as friends, lockers, projects, and tests. Each episode focuses on one main issue students normally encounter in school while providing tips on how to handle these situations, both comical and serious.

Awards

In November 2009, the series won the Global Entertainment Award for best kids' programming of the millennium, in a ceremony held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Actors Devon Werkheiser and Lindsey Shaw were there on behalf of the staff to accept the award.

Locations

The show takes place at the fictional James K. Polk Middle School, in California (the flag can be seen in the school's entrance hall). The exterior of the school was filmed at La Mesa Junior High in Santa Clarita, California. The school is named after the 11th President of the United States, James K. Polk. The school's colors are gold and green and the mascot is the Wolves, which is a constant theme throughout the school's interior.

During Season 1, all of the show's action took place within the school, and with the exception of one or two notable occasions, everything happened indoors. However, during Season 2, the shows producers decided they wanted more exterior scenes, so more outdoor shots were used, and on certain occasions, the show took place off school property.

Spin-off

In June 2008, Werkheiser signed a development contract with Nickelodeon for a spin-off that would deal with his character's adventures in high school. The show had not been green lit as of December 2009, due to Daniel Curtis Lee being committed to another show, Disney XD's Zeke and Luther. It is unknown if Lindsey Shaw had signed a contract for the show as well. Werkheiser commented in a YouTube video that there would not be a continuation of the show, citing budget issues at Nickelodeon as the main reason.
